State of African Americans in DC

Health Disparities

On September 15th, the Georgetown University DC Public Policy Initiative and the School of Nursing & Health Studies hosted a policy briefing and luncheon on The State of African Americans in DC: Health Disparities.

This is the first in a series of events that Georgetown University is sponsoring to explore the State of African Americans in DC.  This event, and the related report, is a direct outgrowth of Georgetown Professor Maurice Jackson's work as Chair of the District's first ever DC Commission on African American Affairs and the partnership he formed with Dean Patricia Cloonan and Professor Christopher King at the University's School of Nursing & Health Studies.

The event brought together a diverse mixture of District government agencies, the Council of the District of Columbia, and members of the District healthcare community.  The next event in the series will focus on economic development and housing.
